Dr. Rabelani Dagada is a Democratic Alliance PR Councillor, and former Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) of Finance at the City of Johannesburg. His involvement in politics was a detour from a successful career in academia and the private sector. His peers have hailed his stature as a scholar and he has already started to make his mark internationally wherein he is taken in high esteem. Dr. Dagada has published extensively on peer-reviewed journals, peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and popular publications such as newspapers, and magazines. He has authored and co-authored books in eLearning, telecommunications, technopreneurship, and eCommerce. Dagada’s academic career spans four South African universities, and he is currently a Professor of Practice in Digital Commerce. Dagada also served in various roles in several organisations and these include the following: President of the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa; Head of Information and Communications Technology in Sebata Group of Companies, and Head of ICT and Knowledge Management at Royal Bafokeng. He also has extensive experience in management consulting and has served in several boards of directors. Dagada holds a Masters of Education in Computer-based Education (University of Johannesburg), Masters of Commerce in Information Systems (Wits University), and PhD in Information Systems (UNISA). He is currently reading for the PhD in Political Economy at the Wits School of Governance.
